The best way to get to know a place is through its food – this is a worldwide principle. No matter where you travel, the best and certainly the most authentic dishes can be found on the street: Street food, as we call it. We Berliners also have a lot more street food deliciousness to offer than simply Döner and Currywurst. Because Berlin is multi cultural, Berlin is creative and Berlin is home to great foods from all over globe.
When strolling through the city you will find everything from Thai tapioca dumplings, Mexican tacos, Argentinian arepas, Pruvian ceviche, Nigerian FuFus, traditional American BBQ to Korean buns and so much more! But since most of these delicious treats are well kept and well hidden secrets, only known by die-hard foodies and hipsters, a few smart citizens thought of a way to bring all these street foods to one place, once a week.
The project “Street Food Thursday”, which was developed by Markt Halle Neun, together with Anna Lai & Tobias Bürger (of Big Stuff Barbeque) und Kavita Meelu (of Imbiss Republik) has been crowned the „most innovative gastronomic project”by the city of Berlin. For a good reason! Here, in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg, you can eat yourself once around the globe for little money every Thursday. It’s no surprise that the weekly event soon became one of the most popular meeting spots for all foodies, bloggers and gastronomes.
We, too, are great fans of Street Food Thursday, which is why we, too will have a stand with our DUKE kitchen this year! Come by the famous Markt Halle Neun on Thursday, 8th of September from 17:00 to 22:00 o’clock and enjoy our delicious treats! The entrée is free, but we certainly do recommend you to come early since the place can get quite crowded and no one likes standing in line for their food! See you there.
