5 tips for autumn in Berlin

Our summer clothes are gradually stored in the back closet, temperatures outside are getting colder and sometimes rainy and wet. But we are a little happy that summer is over. Now the most beautiful time of the year begins. The German capital shines in bright colors, without a guilty conscience we spend cosy evenings in front of the TV and exchange our Iced Cappuccino for the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

To help you get even more out of autumn, we’ve put together a list of the best tips – whether it’s sunny or grey outside:

Read and forget the world in one of Berlin’s reading cafes

If you prefer a cosy fall break, you should get to know Berlin’s literature cafes. Here you can browse, read and enjoy delicious cakes and a good cup of coffee in a nice atmosphere!

Cafe Bilderbuch:

A colourful stroll through the Botanical Garden (Berlin Dahlem)

At the Botanical Garden, the colours of autumn shine particularly beautifully. When the weather is good, the park is the best address for fresh air lovers. In no other place can you experience autumn in several regions of the world at the same time: The Japanese fruit shines blue, the leaves of the Persian ironwood tree golden… If you want to enjoy the colourful season in all its glory, go to the Botanical Garden Berlin!

Botanical Garden Berlin Dahlem:

A well-deserved time-out for body and soul at Vabali Berlin

When it gets cold and wet outside, our body longs for relaxation and warmth. Vabali offers a place of peace and relaxation in the midst of the hectic city. The sauna oasis in the immediate proximity of Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof is just the right place to relax and unwind on colder autumn days.

Vabali Berlin:

Take a break at  “Tempelhofer Feld”

Where once the giant bombers landed, today Berliners and tourists gather to watch the colourful kites in autumn. The largest open field of the capital is the perfect place to unpack your own kite on a windy Sunday afternoon or simply enjoy the colourful sight of the dancing kites with a warming hot drink.

Autumn Event tip: Festival of Lights

Every year in October our city becomes a shining stage. Once again this year, Berlin’s landmarks, buildings, streets and squares will be transformed into light art by international artists from October 11th to 20th. Seven different tours lead visitors to the illuminated buildings from Alexanderplatz, through the districts Mitte-Tiergarten, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Almost 500 buildings in Berlin will be artistically illuminated this year.
